The 8th Working Level Meeting was held in Hanoi on August 8 (Thu.), 2013. In preparing for the ANMC21 Plenary Meeting that is held each year, this occasion brought together administrative officers from ANMC21 member cities, and discussions were conducted concerning plenary meeting topics including policy dialogue themes, the implementation of joint projects in the current fiscal year, and proposals for new joint projects among ANMC21 members, etc.
This year, Hanoi, which is the host city of the 12th ANMC21 Plenary Meeting, held the Working Level Meeting attended by 24 participants from eight ANMC21 member cities.

Welcome from Hanoi

In his welcoming address, the working level meeting's chairman, Mr. Vu Dang Dinh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Foreign Affairs welcomed the delegations of the different cities and expressed his strong determination for the plenary meeting in Hanoi to be a success.

Furthermore, Mr. Seiji Kosuge, Senior Director for International Joint Projects, Headquarters of the Governor of Tokyo; who represented the ANMC21 Secretariat, proposed a number of new measures to further activate the network in preparation for this year's plenary meeting in Hanoi, a year that represents a new start as ANMC21 membership has grown to some 13 cities through the addition of Tomsk and Ulaanbaatar. In the afternoon, onsite inspections were conducted of a number of "Urban Planning" venues, a topic representing one of the policy dialogue themes. The purpose of inspections was to prepare for a fieldwork which is planned to be conducted at this year's plenary meeting for the first time. Through discussions aimed at resolving common issues confronting member cities, and through the sharing of joint project results and best practices, it is hoped that the ANMC21 Plenary Meeting in Hanoi will be very rewarding.
