- ○Tokyo Disaster Prevention Plan
This plan compiles disaster mitigation measures that the Tokyo residents and communities, companies, and the government should prepare in advance for natural disasters such as earthquakes, wind and flood damages, with the goal set for 2020, the year when Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held.
○Project to Promote Stockpiling by Tokyo Residents
This project aims to promote stockpiling the food and the essentials at every household.
“Daily Stockpiles” are stockpiles of supplies built by buying a little more of the food and essentials regularly consumed, and can be used at the time of disaster.
○Disaster preparedness manual “Disaster Preparedness Tokyo (Japanese title “Tokyo Bousai”)”
7.5 million copies of “Tokyo-style disaster preparedness manual”, which is tailored for various disaster risks lurking in Tokyo, have been printed.
The manual does not just provide knowledge of disasters preparedness, but also contains many specific disaster preparedness actions that you can take immediately, such as “Stockpiling Goods” or “Confirm evacuation places”
“Disaster preparedness seminars” utilizing this “Disaster Preparedness Tokyo” manual are held at fire stations of Tokyo Fire Department.
They provided Tokyo residents, communities and companies with information and concrete advices that will enable them to image what kind of preparations for disasters can be made.
1,360 thousand copies of new educational material called “Disaster Preparedness Notebook” were printed and distributed to every pupil/student of every public/private school in Tokyo.
It aims to enrich disaster prevention education both at schools and at homes, and consequently, to foster pupils and students who can take disaster prevention actions.
