Landscaping and BeautificationManila
■ Overview
As part of the beautification and greening of the metropolis, MMDA also propagated and planted about 389,592 assorted plants along several locations in Metro Manila. These are along the center island of Macapagal Boulevard, Boni Serrano Comer C-5, Quezon Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue, and North EDSA to Balintawak and EDSA.
101 trees were balled out and transplanted in Philcoa Camp Aguinaldo, UP village and Barangay West Kamias.
MMDA has also undertaken regular land scape mantenance activities which include watering of plants, repair of damaged or dilapilated fixtures and street furniture, plant boxes, concrete sidewalk, gutter, U-turn slots and waterline replacement, repair of damaged tree guards, replacement of dead ficus trees, pruning/trimming of assorted trees and plants and grass-cutting along the major throughfares of Metro Manila.

- Along the roadway, the Agency accepted donations of mahogany and narra tree seedling from the BuCor Love Foundation led by retired Supreme Court Chief Justice Reynato Puno and Bureau of Corrections President Cesar Guy. An environmental lawyer, Sec.
Tolentino will allocated these seedlings to the mayors and congressmen of Metro Manila.
As a part of the commemoration of the 400th founding anniversary of the University of Sto. Tomas, MMDA assisted the UST Arts and Letters Alumni Association and the Magkaisa Para sa Bayan members to plant 400 seedlings alon Carlos P.Garcia Monument along C-5 Road. The MMDA is also undertaking regular activities like street sweeping, cleaning of sidewalks, painting of street furniture and landscaping along major thoroughfares in the metropolis.

- The Agency aims to utilize open spaces in Metro Manila by planting trees and building plant nurseries. Not only will this improve the facade of the Metro, it will also combat flooding and pollution.
