- Space optimization and effective integration of land use between drainage reserves (canal) and land abutting the canals and which otherwise would not have been used. These are built as park connectors for recreational purpose like cycling, running, walking, blading.
■ Outcomes / Achievements
- Outcome - since the first park connectors were built in 1985, we have seen 200km of a total of 300km of the network built. With a track width of 4m and additional 2m for planting, we have seen recreational users and the public embracing this product. Achievement - today, the Park Connector Network is a well-embraced infrastructure which provides park users the opportunity to exercise and meet each other in a safe environment, especially for cycling. The park connectors bring users from parks to parks and to various areas of attractions. The completion of 4 out of a total of 7 Loops have led to the public raising their expectations of recreational options in Singapore. It also provides an opportunity for users to see the rich flora and fauna and biodiversity in some of the park connectors.

- The park connectors are built at an estimated cost of S$818,000 per km
