■ Features
- ○Introduction of liner motor cars
・While the liner motor system is divided into magnetic levitation and iron wheel type, the Oedo Line adopted the iron wheel type. This is a method in which propulsion is gained using a magnetic force between a liner mortor, which was mounted on the train cars as a support for the wheel, and a reaction plate laid between the rails. Due to this method, compact train cars as well as smooth driving on a sharp curve and steep slope became feasible.
○Small cross section subway
・Construction costs of this line were successfully reduced by making the cross section area of the tunnel approximately 1/2 size in comparison with the previous Toei Subway lines.
■ Outcomes / Achievements
- ・Opening of this line has dramatically improved the transport access in the local area along the line and has contributed to the mitigation of traffic congestion and the activation of the local area.
- ・During FY2011, nearly 781,000 customers on average per day used this service.
■ Cost
- 1 trillion and 357.4 billion yen (construction costs)
