Asian Network of Major Cities 21
The Fourth Plenary Meeting of ANMC21 was held in Jakarta from November 22 to 24, 2004. At the Plenary Meeting, the representatives of the member cities reported on the progress of joint projects and exchanged opinions on coordinated measures to combat infectious diseases in major Asian cities and on the development of the region through the exchange of technology, culture and human resources. The Jakarta Declaration was adopted at the end of the Meeting.
Concurrently with the Plenary Meeting, the ANMC21 Exhibition was held from November 22 to 24. The exhibition included the joint projects exhibition, the city PR exhibition, and the stage performance.

| 【Activities other than the Plenary Meeting（Inspection of an aircraft manufacturing plant）】 Governor Ishihara, who attended the Jakarta Plenary Meeting, inspected IAe’s (Indonesian Aerospace) aircraft manufacturing plant in Bandung. ■Profile of IAe IAe is Indonesia’s largest aircraft manufacturer, headquartered in the Indonesian city of Bandung. Established in 1976, the company develops and manufactures both military and civil aircrafts. It boasted the workforce of 16,000 in its heyday, but has since scaled back to around 3,000 employees. The company took on the development of a twin-engine passenger jet for commercial launch in 2006, but the Asian currency crisis and resulting business deterioration forced the suspension of the project in the initial design stage. |
