■The Twelfth Plenary Meeting in Hanoi
The Twelfth Plenary Meeting of Asian Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC21) was held in Hanoi from November 18 to 19.
On the morning of the first day of the Plenary Meeting, following the opening ceremony, Policy Dialogue on the themes of “Urban Planning -Common issues in the implementation of present urban planning” and “Urban Energy Policy in Asia” took place. In the afternoon, site visits in relation to both of these two themes were carried out in Hanoi City. On the second day, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government proposed a new joint project “Platform for Technology and Industry” which aims to further promote economic exchanges between member cities through research and study on common issues, development of relevant technologies and human recourses, and the roll-out of associated products. In addition, a new framework “Pilot Program” designed to deal with common and individual issues of cities in a timely manner was launched. To bring these outcomes from the Plenary Meeting together, the Hanoi Declaration was adopted.
In conjunction with the Plenary Meeting, the ANMC21 Exhibition was held from November 17 to 19. In addition to the exhibition for introducing the Joint Projects, a city PR exhibition to promote the attractions of each of the member city, as well as the “Pictures Drawn by Children in Asia,” and cultural performances took place.
