■The Tenth Plenary Meeting in Seoul
The Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Asian Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC21) was held in Seoul from October 10 to 11, 2011.
On the morning of the first day, the opening ceremony was held, followed by presentations and discussions on Waterfront Development given by member city representatives. In the afternoon, presentations on Urban Disaster Reduction Measures were given, followed by status reports concerning the implementation of ANMC21 joint projects.
On the second day, the Seoul Declaration was adopted to conclude the meeting.
After the meeting, participants visited the Boramae Citizen Safety Experience Center, where various types of simulated disasters can be experienced, and Cheonggyecheon Plaza, a fine example of waterfront development in Seoul.
In conjunction with the Plenary Meeting, the ANMC21 Exhibition was held from October 8 to 10 at Namsan Hanok Village. The exhibition featured PR exhibits from each city and various cultural performances.
The "Asian Network of Major Cities 21 & Asia Zone" was set up at the Low Carbon Green Growth Expo 2011, which ran concurrently to the Plenary. Promoting their wares and technologies to the South Korean market, Asia Zone exhibitors included businesses and trade promotion authorities from Asia as well as Tokyo-based small- and medium-sized businesses possessing state-of-the-art environmental technologies.
