■The Seventh Plenary Meeting in Kuala Lumpur
The Seventh Plenary Meeting was held in Kuala Lumpur from November 20 to 22, 2008.
Following the opening declaration by the Minister of Federal Territories, Malaysia and press conference on the morning of the first day, reports on the implementation of joint projects by organizing cities and conference hosting cities, the adoption of Mid-Term plans on joint projects, and adoption of a new joint project by Manila were carried out. In the afternoon, a policy dialogue among member city representatives on flood control measures was held, and reports on sports promotion were given, leading to a unanimous agreement by ANMC21 to support the 2016 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games bid. On the second day, the “Kuala Lumpur Declaration” was adopted to conclude the meeting. Comments on the declaration were given by the chairman calling once again for the support of ANMC21 to Tokyo’s bid for the 2016 Olympic Games.
On the final day, an inspection tour on flood control was conducted to the SMART Control Centre and the Tunnel (Motorway).
Concurrently with the Plenary Meeting, the ANMC21 Exhibition was held from November 19 to 22. The exhibition included displays about the network's joint projects, a collection of pictures drawn by children of member cities on sports, city promotions, and performances on stage.
