■The Eleventh Plenary Meeting in Singapore
The Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Asian Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC21) was held in Singapore on June 30, 2012.
The meeting was held on the fourth floor of the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Marina Bay Sands, one of Singapore’s new MICE facilities. At the meeting, Tomsk (Russia) and Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) were approved as new members of the ANMC21, bringing the total number of member cities to 13. The new members were welcomed into ANMC21 for the first time since its inception.
The meeting discussed a Policy Dialogue on the theme of “Balancing Cities’ Economic Growth with Social and Environmental Needs”, and adopted the Singapore Declaration, reaffirming member cities’ agreement to share knowledge, experiences and technology for the development of sustainable cities.
In conjunction with the Plenary Meeting, the ANMC21 Exhibition was held from July 2 to July 4 at the World Cities Summit Expo, located in Hall B on the first floor of the Sands Expo & Convention Center. In addition, “Pictures drawn by Asian Children” were displayed at World Cities Summit venue. Both events drew many visitors.
The ANMC21 Cultural Performances also took place at the outdoor Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza, where the public could watch the shows.
