■The 13th Plenary Meeting in Tomsk
The 13th Plenary meeting of the Asian Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC21) was held in Tomsk from September 5 to 6 of 2014.
On the first day of the meeting, in the morning following the opening ceremony, a policy discussion was held under the theme of “Improving Lives of City Dwellers through New Social Initiatives.” In the afternoon, the participants visited a special economic zone and dacha in the city. On the second day after reports on Joint Projects, Tokyo Governor Masuzoe made a proposal to review the Asian Network of Major Cities 21. As a result of the discussion, representatives of other member cities expressed approval to Tokyo’s proposal and the Tomsk Declaration was adopted including the agreement to conduct a thorough review and have Tokyo, where the Secretariat is based, seek views from the member cities.
In conjunction with the Plenary Meeting, the ANMC21 Exhibition was held from September 4 to 6 , which consisted of informative displays about ANMC21 Joint Projects, booth exhibits that publicize the appeal of each member city and “Pictures drawn by Asian Children” featuring pictures made by children of member cities.
